Video player UK versus Turkey

Hi all,
I know video players/recorders are on the way out in favour of dvd players however I have one I was going to bin with the hundreds of films I have and thought about taking it to Turkey apartment to use in the short term til I get proper tv etc set up.It would also be useful to leave for anyone renting the apartment. Is there any reason this wouldn`t work or do I need any special cables etc to connect it to a `turkish` tv.

thanks

Just make sure you hide it well in the suitcase to avoid paying import tax

Speedy,

Would I really have to pay import tax on an old video recorder, can`t be worth much. How would they calculate what tax is due, and would I be legal to say `just keep it` if they found it and walk away from it as I would maybe pay more in tax than its worth.

Tax is a set scale for certain goods irrespective of age or value. Do a forum search under something like "importing tv" as this has come up before.

If it's Dalaman they'd probably have it in the back of their car before you got out the front door of the terminal if you just left it!

TV video combination is 195 euros.
There is a set tax on anything that receives radio or TV waves.
