Re: Television

As a TV Aerial & Satellite installer, as far as I believe, it is not possible as Turkey is out of the foot print coverage area. There are other satellites available but not SKY DIGITAL it'self.

Regards

Re: Television

Before anyone gets their hopes up here theres a couple of points that need to be aired.

The footprint in Turkey for Sky is very tight hence the talk of a 3m dish.

You may well get reception using a 2m on very clear days, but as soon as theres any cloud or rain in Turkey forget it. Lets not forget that for anyone living here, its the winter months that the sat-tv is going to get the most use.

So whats the bid deal? 2m or 3m - just go for a 3m and Sky all year round.

3m dishes are like rockin horse pooh. Generally unless you are fortunate enough to find a bankrupt bar/restaurant thats selling one off cheap your local satellite dealer will more than likely inform you that the dish needs to be ordered from Istanbul.

Now without getting too technical, theres some dishes which are shaped like a flower in as much as the petals are arranged around each other to form the 3m required after assembly. These are available in the UK, perform superbly and of course they pack down in size to make for convenient shipping.

Not in Turkey. A 3m dish would have to be transported by courier in its full size. Thats gonna cost.

The other problem. Where do you stick a 3m dish thats not going to seriously p-ss your neighbours off? Its unlikely that you would have a property large enough to roof mount and even if you did, the first sign of Turkish Gales and your dish is going to end up where?

Paul, in Altinkum I have witnessed the use of Point to Point Digital Microwave equipment being used to relay Sports Channels from one host to other restaurants.

I presume its a costly option? but worked effectively.

Merlin 3m dishes are readilz available in Antalya, I would also suggest getting the best quality LNB and cable you can though just to reduces signal losses.
