Satalite tv
Could anyone recommend a satellite system that gives me more British channels? As the one I have only gives me BBC Prime and 24Hr News.
I have a home in Akbuk.

Re: Satalite tv
You could look in to Hispasat. Not sure how many channels are British as I don't really watch the telly much but I do know that they have enough english speaking channels to keep my son happy.

Re: Satalite tv
Digiturk does it for me, absolutely loads of english channels, for 330Tl per annum. The ones with substitles in Turkish also help with the language.....well sort of.

Re: Satalite tv
now you see why I support digiturk for the same money and one dish and no having to de-scramble the channels at the extra cost of 240TL (approx) per year!
you get BBc prime and all the channels below and loads of radio/music channels
This is the family package for 318YTL per annum
Click Here to see the complete TV listing for this price.

Re: Satalite tv
I am considering what TV/sat package to install in my new flat in Altinkum. From reading the various postings, I am thinking about going for the Hotbird sat.
1. However, when looking at the channel listings, I am confused regarding the differences between 1/2/3/4/5/6, which one would work in Altinkum?
2. What size of dish should I be looking at?
3. Is there any restrictions of installing a sat-dish in flats? (I do have 2 balconies)
I apolegise for my ignorance, many thanks.

Hi Cantaloupe,
The Hotbird satellites 1-6 are all in the same orbital position. Some are a little more powerfull than others but basicly you would receive them all if you had the correct size of satellite dish ( 80cm-1 meter ) would be more than sufficient.
There are no real restrictions for installation and your dealer will ensure that it has a good clear unobstructed view and signal.
You will however need to upgrade the software in your receiver if you want to view the encrypted channels. There are some dealers who will do this for you or you can do it yourself and it is very easy (and free). I have a motorised dish in England and I can receive channels from all over Europe.
If you need any more info send me a PM and I will try to help you
Regards
Allan
