ITV Player

I watch UK TV using the UKTV Access VPN....I have no problems watching programmes on BBC player But recently have encountered problems with the ITV player. The adverts start and play...the programme starts and plays but then when the next lot of adverts have finished, I get the message...'We think your computer is running ad blocking software. To watch the show you'll need to disable this, then press refresh'. I'm pretty sure I've not got ad blocking software...anyone else having same problem?...or is it because I'm using a VPN ?

Re: ITV Player

I have always found the ITV Player notoriously fickle. The Ad blocker prompt is not new however, and they are among a number of websites I've recently found are now starting to ask the same thing before loading properly. Itv does normally play if you disable - best check the extensions in your browser it is possible you have one enabled\installed without knowing it.

Re: ITV Player

Try another browser or download another one, Firefox for instance

https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/new/

If it plays in a different browser then you probably do have a blocker enabled even if you are not aware of it.

Re: ITV Player

I have UKTV access and I have the same thing with ITV. Makes no difference which which browser İ'm using. It seems to go in fits and starts, sometimes happens quite a few times over a few days and then doesnt happen for weeks.

Alison
Going in fits and starts is not the problem the OP is havingthough, a disable ad blocker message is appearing for essie.

Thats what I mean Norman. I get that same message, usually every time I watch ITV for a few days then ıt doesnt appear again for a while, then starts up again. Changing browser didnt stop it happening for me.

Re: ITV Player

Alison, Essie, you could use Scottish TV, it carries 90% of ITV, especially the soaps.

STV Player

Glasgow Postcodes: G69 6AD or G21 1DX

Re: ITV Player

Sorry not have responded sooner. I've not had a lot of time spare to be watching TV.
Managed to sit down for a few hours yesterday....tried ITV player but the same annoying message came up. Tried STV as Norman suggested and watched various programmes without a hitch.
Watched a couple of the Rebus episodes and found other dramas which looked interesting....so Thank you Norman very much.x

It's not VPN-related: even in the UK I have had advertisements followed by the same message, only to miraculously work the second time. ITV Player's software is just badly designed.
