Re: Do you have nilesat

Well Nigel you have some good options thus far.......tuning the sat dish to another provider is not that difficult......I bought a sat dish from Lidl around 9 years past and it had a DIY sat finder within the package......you can buy something similar from Maplin for around 18.

Its easy to do.....just mark the current position with a felt tip pen.....same with the angle or tilt on the dish so that you can revert back to original position if unhappy......basic compass to work out direction and away you go.

When you locate the sat you want then fine tune the box with the remote control to get the channels you need.

I bought a TV in Turkey that comes with a sat system you click into place on the back of the TV and connect to sat cable......its pre programed with about 30 Sat providers.

You can scan for free to air only or include PPV and subscribe to a provider.....all they need is your decoder serial number to unblock you.

Hope this helps.

Re: Do you have nilesat

Thanks again for all the advice. Ive set up a motorised dish before now so I have a bit of a clue. Unfortunately my satfinder was dropped and is broke. Using the one on my enigma 2 box I have managed to find several different satellites but it will not see the nilesat satellite for some reason even though I am sure I am pointing it in the right direction. There is very little english spoken here so explanations are hard to find. I cannot seem to find anyone selling a satfinder locally. My local supplier failed to turn up to realign my dish.
I have seen a box connected to a scart socket , could that be the type of thing that was built into your tv ? It sounds anintresting alternative.
Thanks again for all the brilliant responses.

I purchased a Sat finder for alignment, but never used it. Instead I used a sat finder website (can't remember what one) with a homemade angle finder (protracter and plumb line). The maps were so accurate, I allined the dish to a nearby bush!

Here are some sites that may be of assistance:

SatPointer - Dish Alignment, Satellite Pointer and Direction Analyzer using Google Maps

Satellite Dish Pointer with Google Maps

Satellite Finder / Dish Alignment Calculator with Google Maps | DishPointer.com

Good luck!

Hi Nigel

Kipa sell those TV's.....AXEN 32" DVB-T.....around 500tl.....excellent value....2 USB and HDMI connections......just slip the DVB-T tuner into its slot and connect sat cable and away you go......a lot tidier than a box and cables dangling everywhere......can be wall mounted or use stand supplied.
