MAG 254 IPTV subscription

I have a MAG 254 and my question is mainly with subscriptions.
Over on eBay I see subscriptions costing as low as £13.00 per 12 months, although most say that about 8 mb/s is required, which I don't think I get that, now as my internet supplier may be talking about £50 for another years subscription, is that what we may class as another Turkish rip-off or is it worth going for a punt with the £13.00 job?

ALSO once I have given them my MAC address (which I believe is all they require) will I be able to bring and use the box here in the UK without any problems when not in Turkey?

And finally, do I have to go into the setting to set-up the new supplier or will it automaticly configure itself?

£13 is cheap. You pays your money you takes your chance. Mind you, £50 is cheap.

Yes, it will work in the UK. I do the opposite, take my UK box to Turkey.

Thanks, and yes I realise that £13 is cheap but worth a punt and if it works it works etc. Only not prepared to pay my internet supplier about £50-£60 for something that keeps buffering most of the time on the main channel I like watching but as it will be the start of the summer when out next, watching TV will not be high on my agenda of things to do, unlike last winter.

But what about the set-up?

Re: MAG 254 IPTV subscription

Hi OF, there are some that actually free - you just buy a new box of them and never pay again, and most include all terrestrial, Netflix, Prime and sky TV etc.

I have had a couple of different versions, one on mag and one on fire stick. The only thing extra I pay for is sport (all prem and European games + loads of other stuff from USA and catch-up, which is great here in Turkey as it means I donít have to stay up late to watch anything interesting - I simply view it the next day.

The extras package costs £50- per year.

Just two notes of caution:-

1. They do require a reasonable internet speed. Yes they will work with less than 8 mbps, but will likely buffer.

2. Given the need for these companies to keep ahead of the blockers, you do have to update your system online quite regularly - not a big issue and easy to do, but it does need doing

Re: MAG 254 IPTV subscription

Just so you are aware..I'm an IPTV reseller!! I don't have to work to hard to sell my Subs, as UK and other global TV companies have been ripping us off for years...As was the music industry.. There are a great many IPTV suppliers out there...many of which are next to useless, running on cheap shared servers..There channels constantly buffering, or plain inability to connect. You get what you pay for.

A Mag device or emulation software requires you to to add the providers URL...and set your device mac...you simply give the mac address to your provider, and they connect your service... Just a heads up here... Should your provider see your mac address being used on more than 1 device...They will ban the mac address!!

Internet speed is crucial for the type of provider you go for... Weak bandwidth, less than 3mbit requires you use a supplier that only supports SD TV....

5-6mbit just about manages HD Channels.. and for FHD you really have to have 10mbit or greater..

So when you search for a provider, consider not just the content, but also the definition of the channels...and marry it to your ability to recieve ..

On a side note...VOD are very often server repositories, for movies and boxsets..and usually of 1080p quality...which requires a very strong bandwidth to watch..

Hope this shines a light..
Steve
