Uk Terrestial Channels
Sorry no doubt this question has been asked and asked but could i find an answer on the forums.
Is it possible and if so what the best way of getting BBC1, BBC2, ITV, CH4 and CH5 in Turkey.

Re: Uk Terrestial Channels
Not that I know of unless anyone knows better. I think Sky you would need a 2m -3m dish.

Depends on where you are, could be as much as a 4m or 5m dish to pick up Sky.

Re: Uk Terrestial Channels
I would recommend the 'Sling Box'. A box that can re-transmit free to air channels over the internet to another computer anywhere. I know they actually work.
Sky box output into slingbox then into a network router in Uk and then recieved on your laptop.
Hope the info helps.

Not for many in Turkey they don't. Very often the downstream speed in Turkey is actually less than the recommended upstream speed of 256kbs.

Re: Uk Terrestial Channels
My upstream speed is 234 Kbps and it works ok. The downlink will work on 1 meg. I have tested it. Don't know what b/band speed is available in Turkey, but it does work else where.

Re: Uk Terrestial Channels
Didn't say it doesn't work, simply that it's not practicle for those in Turkey. Maybe once the ADSL providers and TT upgrade exchanges and lines outside large towns and cities it may be an option, but not now for most folks.
An alleged 256kbs connection in the centre of Fethiye I was working on recently managed no more than about 115kbs over a four hour period with an upstream speed no better than dial up, and thats aside from the frequent outages that can last anything from a few seconds to several minutes.

Agree with JF, slingbox wont be pratical and I am in a large city with a supposedly 1meg internet connection but feels like dial up.

Re: Uk Terrestial Channels
Looks like this system will only be working in the future then with faster connections in Turkey. It has been tested in the Canary Islands and works ok there with 1 meg.

Yeah, but that dodgy bit of Cat 5 network cable running from the back of your neighbours house probably doesn't help... surprised they haven't sussed you yet mate.
