Re: Spicy Chick Peas

I make this sometimes as it's quick and I always have a few tin handy for emergencies, I also add button mushrooms if I have any around.

Re: Spicy Chick Peas

I like this! Love chick peas, often make spicy chick peas (curry) but also use tamarind to get the tanginess as well as lemon and chopped coriander before serving.

Thanks, this looks simple, tasty and easy to make.

Re: Spicy Chick Peas

We have it with either chunks of carrot and walnut bread or sometimes rice.

Here is the easiest bread recipe EVER!

CARROT AND WALNUT BREAD

350g plain flour
150g wholemeal flour
1 tsp salt
2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
150g carrot – peeled and grated
a handful walnuts – toasted
300ml low-fat Greek yogurt
125ml semi-skimmed milk

Heat oven to 230C/fan 210C/Gas 8.

Mix the flours, salt, bicarbonate of soda, then stir in the carrots, walnuts and yogurt, followed by enough of the milk to make a soft, quite sticky dough.

Tip onto a floured surface and form a flat ball, put on a baking sheet, slash the top and bake for 30 minutes until risen and cooked.

It,ll sound hollow when you tap it.

I,ve also substituted the carrots and walnuts for cheese and onion.

Soo x

Re: Spicy Chick Peas

Anyone got a nice recipe for a special celebration nut roast? This is what our family have every year and although the one Don makes is very nice I was wondering if there was a variation.
