White Rock or not?
Hi everyone!
We have just joined the TL Forums. Glenda & I formed a Turco-British family 15 years ago in England and after 18 years in the UK we found ourselves living in Abu Dhabi as of last year with our two sons. We have recently been thinking of buying a summer property in Turkey where we may also retire in the future. After a bit of research on the Internet we ended up with the prospect of visiting the Dalaman area in two weeks' time on an inspection trip, courtesy of Curbanoglu.
We did fancy the pictures of the White Rock (Akkaya) and we were really excited his morning when we realised there were some fellow Brits out there already. We would really appreciate if you could give us some feedback about how it's gone for you all with Curbanoglu and how you find life out there so far.
Thanks & Regards,
Chinar & Glenda.

Re: White Rock or not?
Welcome to the forum Chinar and Glenda.
There are several Curbanoglu buyers on the forum and I know JEANNİE and Scotgus have places at Whiterock. I am sure they will be along soon to tell you about their experiences.
It is a stunning area and the new restaurant by Whiterock is wonderful. Enjoy your trip, I don't think you will be disappointed.
BTW. If you are here between the 12 & 18 May it is the Dalaman Festival so you will be able to enjoy that too!

Re: White Rock or not?
Totally agree with Gus and Alison.
We bought through Curbanoglu too, in Olivium, not White Rock, which for us (3 blondes, very fair skinned need the height of ours to keep the breeze on those wonderful but oh so hot days) will remain the best decision. Truly our second home and miss it dreadfully when not out there. I cannot wait until our longest stay this August - 3 weeks!!
The quality of the build is easily of the highest we've seen. We did not accept the hospitality bit and paid for our flights etc so as not to feel beholden. Then much later down the line of the purchase they paid for us to stay in a hotel! This was whilethe final white goods we had chosen were being fitted, just prior to moving in.
We drove around to many places. Olu deniz, Hisonaru, Ovacik, Bodrum. For us personally Curbanoglu stood out - I must point out there are other builders that seem to have also done very well but can only provide our own experiences. Curbanoglu are an even better company now three years on, as their experience and professionalism grows.
Just a footnote but White Rock has some truly great residents, you will be in very good company.
All the best maybe see you in the stunning restaurant one of these days.

Re: White Rock or not?
Hi Debbie & Gordon and Gus & Alison,
Thank you so much for the feedback. I guess the best marketing investment any company can make is to gain a few happy old customers like yourselves and that is what Curbanoglu seems to have managed in this case. I must say we did like the look of White Rock on the internet as well as the info about Curbanoglu but you'll never know these things can be deceiving as we all know. Having said that we also got some good reference on Curbanoglu last week through a solicitor friend of ours in London who deals with property conveyancing in Turkey.
D&G - your words made us have a re-think today. We now think we should also opt out of the sponsored inspection trip in favour of an independent one of our own. I will inform the English agents tomorrow and book our own little holiday/inspection trip in Dalaman. Yes, it will be a bit more expensive but there is nothing like a free mind and spirit when it comes to making big decisions like buying a house...
There are a few hotels there around Sarigerme, aren't there? I fancy the Iberotel. Any views on that?
Best Regards,
Chinar.

Re: White Rock or not?
Hi Chinar,
We went on an inspection trip with Curbanoglu & at no time did we feel under pressure to buy. They show you the area and projects that they have completed and let that do the talking. We know lots of people that have done it that way and everyone has said the same, but you must choose what you feel is best for you.

Re: White Rock or not?
Hi Chinar,
Gus is correct I don't know of anyone that felt pressured by Curbanoglu, even having received their hospitality. My point was that even though we chose not to accept any free flights etc at the beginning, Curbanoglu later paid for nights in a hotel much later down the line! At this point they had our business yet still in effect reimbursed us. Which to this day I feel rather genuine/kind of them.
All the best and hope to see you out there one day.

Re: White Rock or not?
Hi Chinar & Glenda,
We have stayed with Curbanoglu at their guest house and ate the most fantastic food cooked by Kamil's cook. They do not use hard sell practices, but ensure you meet other happy purchasers and let you make your own mind up. We have purchased a Whiterock villa and are extremely happy with it. The build quality is superb, especially the stone work and marble flooring. However, Turkish carpentry skills and standards leave a lot to be desired (the kitchen was falling apart).
We have had some snagging issues, the garden was not finished for our first stay, the villa was not cleaned properly prior to handover and the complex has not been finished on time.
But the moment we arrive at Whiterock, even with an unfinished garden, these problems are swept clean away.
We are next out on 26th May for 1 week, if your visiting then, pop in to villa no 10 and have a chat.
Hope this is helpful,
Paul & Debbie
