Just a common bird

but when you actually look at them properly I think they are great looking birds

this next one is not as common as the House Sparrow above but beautiful birds as well, this was taken at fairly long range and I have had to heavily crop it.

Re: Just a common bird

Hi, we have quite a few couples of house sparrows nesting, have three nest boxes in the garden all where used last year so have quite a flock of them now, really entertaining to watch.

the precise markings and colourings on "all creatures great and small "is a source of endless fascination for me
as usual delightful pics with an unerring eye for a great shot thanks

Re: Just a common bird

I have a fatball feeder near my kitchen window and it's used by a large family of sparrows and a mouse.

It's interesting to try and recognise the sparrows by the individual markings.

There was a wildlife documentary on tv a while ago showing the regimental hierachy in sparrows according to the chest markings.

I also have a sparrow hawk that comes and sits on either a bush or the hedge
waiting for one of the many small birds to make a mistake.

Nice photos

Eliot
