Re: One man and his dog.

yES saw this myself earlier and it meant so much to me, as our faithful labrador finallyn gave up the fight and lay down the day my partner went into hosp for a heart procedure and had a bad reaction and nearly died. |Jasper our faithful friend who went to work with him daily and rounded up the horses for him and led the tractor out at minimum 3times daily to harrow the i mile gallop. barked for his stones to be thrown into the stream and pool on our land, where upon he would dive into the water and eventually pop up with them, trained our other two dogs in before he died and it is just amazing wqhat the two left behind do. Initally they looked for him as he was the leader on the road and if all the younger ones got giddy he would do a few serious heavy cross barks and they would all lie down and turn over bellys up, total submission and then crawl on their bellies over to him, (and this included the neighbours dogs) and try and kiss him and he would give a low growl and peace pervaded for a while. He used to leave me presents of stones and rats and mice and birds that had fall en out of their nests outside the door for me when ever I was away. That is country life for you. We miss him so much and had to wait a little whiele to put hom down as we knew he had done his best thoughout his life. His best buddy, the older 2nd dog would nbot go into the kennel that they all shared for at least 3 weeks after he died. And still if I forget and call them all and use Jaspers name she comes up to me and lies against me and a huge sigh. They are so healing which is why it is so sad to see them abandoned in Turkey too.

Re: One man and his dog.

What a heart warming story. My dog has to have a biopsy Monday as she has a sinister lump. I am so worried about her.
If it would help I would gladly float in the water with my canine best friend any day, she is better company than some humans.

Re: One man and his dog.

Dont worry cos she is not. Their lives are shorter than ours but by the sounds of you happier than others. Love her and let her go.

Re: One man and his dog.

This story struck a cord with me too and I must admit that it caused me to shed a tear or two.
