Re: snake

Mine brought one in and it got away and hid under a cupboard in the living room....I went out and came back a few hours later to find it half eaten on the floor

Re: snake

Your lucky you only have 1 cat bringing you presents like that, we had a cat and 2 springers who used to love giving us presents of the wildlife variety, snakes, the big lizards and more often the poor tortoise's that found their way into the garden.

The eldest springer, when she had found one she'd come bounding in with it in her mouth if she could pick it up if she couldn't pick it up she had a special bark, she'd just stand there doing this daft bark till you came and had a look, as soon as you did she would ignore it....daft dog!

Re: snake

I had a cat who used to bring "presents". His usual one was a dead mouse on the back door step. He also used to leave them for the lady next door, who would 'phone me to take it away before she would step out! He also used to kill birds, but not as many as the mice.

One day he brought home a live bird. It was the day of Charles and Diana's wedding. He used to come in and go out via the living room window. With one eye on the telly, I opened the window. In he came, and promptly let the bird go! It flew round the living room, then zoomed out of the door and up the stairs, with the cat in hot pursuit.

The bird flew into our bedroom, which at the time had nothing in it except a stepladder. We had virtually finished decorating, so no furniture. The bird (a sparrow) was circling the room at high level. I was trying to get one of the windows open. My cat kept trying to climb up the walls to get to the bird. He even climbed the step ladder to the top platform and launched himself at the bird. Of course, he missed. He was on his way up the steps again when fortunately the sparrow found the open window and escaped.

It was comical to watch, especially the look on his face when the sparrow had gone.

I am so glad he didn't find snakes, but I suppose in the UK they would have been little ones. Still, would have been a nasty shock. Don't like reptiles!!

What happened to yours Hijo?

Maisie

Re: snake

i know we call them 'presents'
but what is the real reason behind this behaviour..
are they letting us know that this is the food they really want and its a hint to
'' stop giving us all that manufactured rubbish. .so go out and catch us a few organic snakes and mice yum yum ''

Re: snake

I think they really are presents. I seem to remember reading about this somewhere.
