Re: our cat brought us in a present ,

We get quite a lot of those. Don't think the cats bring them in though. They like to swim in our pool, but they aren't very good at it and most end up on the bottom.

Gaziantype is on a distinguished road
Re: our cat brought us in a present ,

Yep. Poisonous. In Japan they are freaked out by them too. In Japanese they call them "Mukade".

Apparently the poison can be used. For instance. People pickle the centipede in their favorite alcoholic spirit or Soy sauce and Imbibe when feeling ill.

We were also told that they have a very nasty sting. Caught one in our apartment and it didn't half move when I was trying to catch it.We call them milipedes in the UK, be careful pic em up with a dustpan and shovel or sqash em

Re: our cat brought us in a present ,

Brave cat!

Not overly dangerous. They don't have a sting but do inject a mild venom when biting.

Re: our cat brought us in a present ,

KKOB had a bust up with one of these, he lost I'm afraid and was stung/bitten, the result was a very painful finger for quite a while, followed by a dull numbed sensation for another good while after that.

They have good hard exo-skeletan (sp)
too, takes quite a bit to actually stamp on it and do some damage/stun it long enough to get it out the door and away from the house.
