single woman living alone in Turkey

HI

I would like to hear from any single women who are living out in Altinkum as I am considering moving out to live there. I am a 49 year old and not looking for a Turkish toy boy before you all jump on that band wagon but I was wondering what your social life is like out in Turkey especially during the winter months.I would like an insiders view point as I feel maybe a single woman would be looked on as either a man eater (well I'm not to hungry yet!)however I would like to meet and make new friends of both sexes.I would value your opinions and how you have managed once in Turkey.

Ann

Hey Ann, good to see you. How did you get on with your op? I was wondering about you a couple of days ago, spooky, eh?

Sorry can't answer your question though.

Re: single woman living alone in Turkey

Hi Ann, not going to be much help to you in Altinkum, but here in Kusadasi there are many single women and most of those i know are not looking for Toy boys lol. There is a lot going on in the winter apart from local stuff in there own areas, the Anglo Turkish Club meet once a week, there are coffee mornings, informal get togethers based around the 2 main market days, trips arranged for such things as horse racing camel fighting (you dont have to fight the camels yourself), visa trips to Samos, dance classes, slimming clubs and plenty of other things.

All the best with your move

Mark

Re: single woman living alone in Turkey

The WIT group have organised social meet ups for single women in Altinkum. I don't know who specifically runs it, but I'm sure someone will come on and tell you soon. It's for making friends when you're new to to the area.

Hi Ann, Thanks for posting the question! I am a single woman moving to live in Gulluk next year. The replies were very helpful and encouraging as I keep wondering if I am doing the right thing. Think I am and it's going to be great to meet all those new people!

Re: single woman living alone in Turkey

Hi Ann,

WIT (Women in Turkey) was set up in November 2007 as an information portal and support group for all women here. The founding branch is here in Altinkum and we hold meetings on the last Thursday of every month (currently at the Orion Hotel in Second Beach). We also hold coffee mornings and arrange social events and coming for winter are an open day and a pantomime (oh yes there is!). A lot of our members are in the same situation as you Ann so you will fit right in :-)
