Local taxes - Per property or Per Person??
Hopefully we will be signing for our Tapu at the beginning of April (although at the moment the developer is refusing to sell to us)
We have read conflicting reports on the forum about the local council charges. We understand that they are 0.1% of the declared purchase price per annum (although not for the first year for new builds).
Does anyone know if this is 0.1% per person or just 0.1% per property.
Thanks

Re: Local taxes - Per property or Per Person??
i got told conflicting reports last year when i went to pay mine. its a percentage of the property price and each person on the tapu pays their share. they were very helpful at the council office. we just took our deeds and passports and they told us how much we owed

Re: Local taxes - Per property or Per Person??
Hi Ringspanner
I have made similar enquiries on the forum and it appears that the the "council tax" is 0.1% per person printed on Tapu..... of the declared price on Tapu.
New builds are exempt for 1 year.
Bon sanslar.....and hope to meet you at Musti's on 1st April
Developer refusing to sell to you..... what's this?

Re: Local taxes - Per property or Per Person??
council tax [ or vergisi] is due in may ,and the fine is peanuts , so dont worry too much about it ,we owed 2 years and was amazed at what we had to pay inc fines. we did not need our tapu to pay it ,just our address and passport and if there are 2 names ontapu t5hen it is split between the 2 .

Re: Local taxes - Per property or Per Person??
When you first register your property and go to the local Belediye to make your first tax payment you should each (of those on the Tapu) be given a small card with your property reference number on it. This card should be taken along to the payments office and will act as ID for you and your property and enable you to pay your dues within minutes - in Yalikavak go upstairs at the town hall (near the market) to the far right hand office, give them the ticket and they will produce your Bill, then take this to the cash office next door (where the water bill is also paid) and they will relieve you of your lira- job done! and not a word of english or Turkish needs to be uttered!!
