Insurance

Hi
Does anybody have an insurance company they can recommend for house contents? I would like somebody that i can deal with via email and has an English translation of the policy so i can renew even if i am not in Turkey.
Thanks.

Re: Insurance

Hi, We have building and contents insured with Intasure at www.intasure.com. Please check previous threads on this.
We had storm damage just a couple of months after taking the policy out. The insurance paid the claim within 2 weeks, so we were very satisfied. Everything is in English and you can e-mail or phone them.
Hope this helps.

Re: Insurance

Hi

Intasure sounds good if they paid out within 2 weeks, but please be aware we are insured with AK Sigorta and unfortunatley got burgled whilst asleep and they are refusing to pay out as we did not have wrought iron grills at the windows they conveniently failed to point this out when we took the policy out may be worth checking this out when taking out a policy. We have also learned they seem more willing to pay out for storm damage than robberies.

Hi
As Montemaranne says Intasure offer good rates and lots info on the forum through the search facility

I got annual contents through their web based site last month:
http://www.insuredabroad.com/
Same service - just a bit cheaper through the internet.

Re: Insurance

Intasure do DASK too now - they charge £10 extra for the administration.

Insurance wise - I think they use AK Sigorta though - as underwriters!

I'm currently thinking of renewing my Insurance with Intasure.

Last year I got DASK with AK Sigorta separatly but i'd rather all my insurance be together on one renewal date with 1 company.

Hi Sue,
So sorry that you're having trouble with your insurance - thank goodness the burglars didn't harm you!
After reading your post I decided to go through our policy documents from Intasure once again. There is a sheet of additional information with questions the representative asked me on the phone. The questions that are applicable here are as follows:

h) Do accessible windows have key-operated locks?
i) Do accessible windows have wooden/metal shutters or interior locks?
j) Do you have metal grilles embedded into the walls?

Our answers were given as YES to all of these questions. However, I was sure I had not been asked question j) as we do not have metal bars. So I rang Intasure this morning to find out what was going on.

The representative changed our answer to question j) to NO. He said it would not affect our cover since we have shutters. H immediately e-mailed me the amended policy documents and there is no change to the premium or the sum insured.

By the way Gren, it says on the policy schedule: "Policy underwritten by Lloyds of London", not "AK Sigorta" - or did you mean that was for DASK?

I WAS also asked about the metal bars on windows with Intasure - which I do have (but no shutters).

My Intasure policy (ending this year) definetly says:
"underwritten by Aviva Sigorta"

However, THIS year's renewal just came thru the post and says:
"underwritten by Lloyds of London" !!! There was a covering letter to confirm this listing some benefits.

The DASK is a government Insurance so i guess its not underwritten.

HI Gren,
just to put your mind at rest
Aviva is actually Norwich Union, not AK Sigorta,
