Kitchen Gadgets?
Can I have some opinions please, We only have a gas hob ( bottled) in our apartment & I have been wondering what would be the most useful piece of equipment to buy, a bench top oven or the Tefal actifry, I don't intend getting a microwave as I don't use it at home much.
Thanks

Re: Kitchen Gadgets?
What about a combi ? Combined oven, grill and microwave. A bit expensive but very versatile.

I have a table top oven that I brought over with me from the UK but have seen them in Metro. It is not your convential oven it is round pyrex but works just like an oven, will also defrost and grill, ideal for one or two people. Easy to use and quick and efficient. Sorry cannot remember the name.

What about a double skillett - here is a link that you may find useful. I am still on a learning curve with this one, but will be taking one camping in two weeks, so can report back on how it goes. I have done some roast tatties, and they were brilliant.

(Hope the link works) If not I will try again.

I rather like the idea of something more enclosed so that there is not a lot of spattering etc.

Re: Kitchen Gadgets?
I have a bench top oven and, yes, they do work ok but they are very basic, the thermostat tells fibs and you must watch them at all times. I have cooked most things in it but i would replace it with a built in oven in a moment, so anyone with a single built in oven for sale, let me know

Re: Kitchen Gadgets?
Hi
W e used to have a combi microwave years ago when we moved into our first house and were waiting for the kitchen to be fitted and it was really good, I'm talking about 15 years ago so I imagine they would be even better now.

Re: Kitchen Gadgets?
I recently got the Tefal Actifry, we use it all the time. No smell, important in these open kitchens, no mess, it really is easy to clean. You can put your food in it, switch it on then leave it to take care of itself, then you can go away and do something more worthwhile than cooking, this is when I walk the dog. Most importantly it fits easily into a cupboard and doesn't permenantly take up counter space. I love it. However if you are cooking for a larger family, more than 2 or 3 people I would say it's not for you.

Thanks heatherto,
I have orderd the actifry from shopping TV, I'm going to use the 30 trial. It was after ordering it I thought I should have asked what people on the forum found most usefull
