These 'get togethers' sound like a real moneyspinner with a bit of 'craic' thrown in for good measure.

Well done Sue, great idea and shrewd advertising too.

Sue and Ibrahim have been hugely kind and informative to us over the past 5 years, and we don't always even stop for coffee when we are asking for directions, info or advice. We've only ever been to one get together (and we actually love to cook so don't eat out often) but that has never stopped them extending a warm welcome to us on every visit. Keep up the good work you two, including all you do for the street dogs.

Ceemac - they are certainly NOT a moneyspinner !! As pld says sometimes folks even dont stay for a coffee when invited but a VERY warm welcome is given
I have been arranging these " get togethers " since 2006 and alot of friendships have been formed due to these and alot of info - good and bad has been shared betweenTLF members .
I certainly am not doing it for "" SHREWD " advertising - as you can see i pay for a banner on TLF - i do not advertise for free !!
Maybe you would like to join us one time for a social night out ?

PS TLF members also recieve 10 per cent discount on meals.

Just one time? And how much would it cost??

My post was not meant to offend and I appear to have struck a nerve - I apologise.

I'm not long back from Turgutreis and some of the bars and restaurants are really struggling. I was just thinking after reading this thread that they could be doing with some regular get-togethers.

As far as advertising goes, I only mentioned shrewd - nowhere in my thesaurus does it say the word can mean 'free'......

ps Lots of restaurants where I live offer 10-15% discount to certain groups - it's a business strategy to attract custom as far as I'm aware.

Well it did rather sound like that to me and you certainly have not struck a nerve - i have nerves of steel --haha !
ALL restaurants are struggling this season whether it be in Yalikavak - Bitez Turgetreis etc
There are alot of tourists around making the place look busy but not alot are eating out so much - all inclusive hotels are mainly to blame
Unfortunatly there will be alot of restaurants closing before the end of season due to this - 1 has already closed its doors in Yalikavak village !
As for "" how much will it cost ? "" - it will cost you anything from 50 krs for a Turkish Cay -- up to 35 ytl for our most expensive wine - up to the customer what they want to drink !
I dont force people to have anything - i am happy to chat for a while to relieve the boredom of a bad season !!
I wish ALL restaurants good luck for the remaining 3 months - stick it out folks !

I hope business picks up for you Sue, now that the main summer season is underway. I heard on the radio that Turkey is on the up for British holidaymakers - lets face it, all it does here in the UK is blummin rain!! Can't wait to get back over there on 11th August - see you all then.
