Servicing Air Con Units
Can anyone advise on servicing of air conditioning units. I'm told that units need treating for legionella but not sure how often. What would be the approximate cost for servicing - 2 bedroomed apartment (3 air con units).

Re: Servicing Air Con Units
Legionella is only a problem in air-con units that have a water cooling system - as might be found in office blocks. The system in your house is unlikely to be that type.
It is still important to clean them as filters can become blocked and harbour bacteria, but not Legionella in harmful measure. Also, dirty filters reduce efficiency of the unit.

Re: Servicing Air Con Units
Thanks Ian - Good advice again. It's these bits that just get overlooked, and with a service the unit should be on top line - just in time for the height of summer !

Re: Servicing Air Con Units
Other than the good advise from the others, look to you condensing unit [the outside bit] not much to do cept make sure air can flow easily and there are no bits of paper/foilage blocking the flow.
Thee are no other servicable needs, clean filters and check airflow----easy!

Re: Servicing Air Con Units
I did hear that in Spain people often have a removable cover on the outside part of aircon units to keep dirt etc out,are these available in Turkey?

Re: Servicing Air Con Units
I wouldnt recommend covering the condersor, should you forget it then it will cost you dearly.
Problem is that the time that dirt etc gets in is when its working, off line there is no great problem as the fans arent running.

Re: Servicing Air Con Units
The outlet hoses from our aircon units are too short. Is it possible to buy longer hoses and would it be a big job to replace them?
