Question about Internet

I am thinking of first renting then eventually buying property in the Yalikavak area but internet access is a MUST , can anybody tell me how good/bad is the internet infrastructure in the area and are all these new constructed villas tied in to any internet backbone at all ?

Thank you for any information

Re: Question about Internet

We live in Torba and have no problems with ADSL but you have to have a telephone line of course and a lot of these new properties do not have any connections. I know of people who have bought and find that they cannot get a telephone connect for months if not years plus of course you have to be a resident - I think.

Re: Question about Internet

Our property is in Turgetries and is 5 years old. We had the phone connected last April and it took 2 days to organise and apparently if we put ADSL in this year it will be done in 2/3 days. We are not permanent residents. Hope this helps.

Re: Question about Internet

I think the bigest problem is registering the telephone line, for which you need a residential visa.
We have lines into our site, with ADSL being hooked up in just three days IF you have a residential visa.
As I visit Turkey every eight weeks it is cheaper for me by far just to get a tourist visa every other trip.
I might try just a six month residential visa just to get the line registered, I assume that once installed all you have to do is keep up with payments and not get cut off.
Well I hope that it will work that way.

Re: Question about Internet

If you have someone nearby who you can share wireless internet with, you can always ask them to share access and you share the bill. (I would recommend uncapped (limitsiz) if you do though.

I know of quite a few who share access and some even run a cable if they are near.

Re: Question about Internet

Can I assume then that the further out from the city center you go the less likely the property will have telephone access (which de facto ensures ADSL ) ?

Also like rosewall1 stated all these new properties do not have telephone connections so I would assume that this would be my No 1 question when asking the seller/agent about the property

As for wireless , I dont have much confidence in it as I have had it here where I live now , sharing it with somebody is a nightmare , if just one person on the connection starts downloading everybody else on the line is is basicly on hold while the downloading is in process .

ADSL is the way to go and to have that the real estate you are buying must be telephone enabled , I just wonder what percentage of the new villa complexes I have been listing through have telephone cables built in ?

Re: Question about Internet

We are 200m away from Gumuskia Jandarma, new lines into the site installed a few months ago by site developer. Each property is already individualy wired back to the site central box.
We just need to register to get the connections activated.
