Thomas Cook
For those of you out there who know anyone who has booked a holiday with Thomas Cook this summer and are due to stay at Mercan Story Hotel please spread the word.
Friends of mine are expecting to stay there this summer but i have found out that Mercan are not working with Thomas Cook this summer. They have been in touch with TC and were told "we did not know this was the situation" . As you can imagine they are not very impressed. As far as they know they might be allocated accomodation upon arrival at the airport and be placed anywhere, Kusadasi,Altinkum Bodrum.
The owner of Mercan Story is non to pleased, as TC are selling holidays but have no intention of sending guests there.
I have heard of 3 other families who also think they are staying there !

Re: Thomas Cook
Tell us about it! We are having a nightmare with it because there is a large group of us. Some booked with Thomas Cook some not.
Looks like we will be sleeping on the beach unless Mercan decide to rent privately.

Re: Thomas Cook
Goodness -- how terrible -- quite a few of my friends and regulars have booked there for this summer -- they will be devastated if moved elsewhere !!

Re: Thomas Cook
Snowyjo- yes you can book privately with them, they are still open this year , just not working with ANY tour companies.
Luckycat- Get in touch with your friends/regulars if poss and fill them in on the situation so they can try to get it sorted. Thomas cook did not notify my friends, i did!

Re: Thomas Cook
Thomas Cook have behaved very badly over this. They insisted they did have a contract for this season with the Mercan even though we knew directly from the horse's mouth (so to speak) that they most definately did not. When forced to admit the lack of a contract they then said it would all be sorted in a week or two. Needless to say-absolutely nothing has been sorted to date. Thomas Cook has been selling accommodation in a property that is unavailable to them, and seem to be under the impression that they have done nothing wrong!!!!!!! The idea was obviously to get the final balances paid up, and then drop the bombshell that the customer would not be getting what they'd booked in good faith-but "hey no worries-we can fix you up in a lovely little doss-house in Gumbet!!!!!" Sharp practise Thomas Cook!! Most definately NOT the way to make friends and influence people!! Just how many travel firms are operating similar dodges?????????? You can bet your bottom dollar that TC are not the only ones. The only reason they've been sussed out this time is because quite a lot of repeat Mercan guests found out the situation by one means or another. TC have had a dirty great flea in their ears over this little lot!!!!!

Re: Thomas Cook
Well said Deryle!!
What they need to do is go into Thomas Cooks Saturday afternoon when it's busy, demand their money back and kick up a right fuss.
See how fast the shop clears and how fast Thomas Cooks move then!!

Re: Thomas Cook
2 Years ago. some people who were staying at the same hotel as us were told at the last minute by Thomas Cook that the Burak hotel in Altinkum had closed for the season, and the accomodation would be switched to the hotel we were in. After one night, they found out the Burak was open, so they kicked up a fuss, and got the rep to change them to the Burak.(they had booked half board, and our hotel only did b+b) Loads of people that week (last week in the season) were apparently told the same by T. Cook. Ted

Re: Thomas Cook
Do you know whats going on at Mercan Story. Are Selma & Mustafa still there this summer or are Ali-Baba or someone else taking over. Can we book with them and do you know the price? Thanks for any info you can give.

Completely agree! Thomas Cook strike again!!! Their customer service is appalling!! I only use them because there is usually only them flying from my area. If I can get on KTHY for a good price I choose them every time.
Good luck with this.
