Thumbs up the kindness of good people

I have just returned from two weeks in the lovely Yalikavak and had a great time,,,,, apart from the fact my apartment was burgled!! this of course was a big shock , and disappointment.... but the situation was salvaged by the kindness of people on the site who rallied around and helped sort everything out; arranged for new security and made us feel safe again , and for that I would once again like to thank them.
The police did respond quickly at the time but didn't seem to take things any further , in fact despite us being told to go to Bitez to collect the police report it remained in a drawer until we went back in and asked for it.! I think with a little effort a pattern could be detected as to the culprits as there are too many coincidences to be chance happenings!
I have no doubt the good people of Yalikavak will have their own views on this as I understand similar wrong doings occurred at xmas.
However the goodness of people shone through and meant my fondness for the place remains in tact....thank goodness for that!

Re: the kindness of good people

We were lucky enough to experience just the same kindness when our villa was burgled (while we were asleep upstairs) a couple of years ago, in fact our farmer neighbour spent the following couple of nights sitting on his balcony with a shotgun - he wasn't a great shot I have to say, but the good intention of guarding us was obvious.
We felt at the time that our Turkish neighbours almost felt embarrassed and in a way responsible to us - wouldn't find that in too many other countries where you are the outsider.
Just another example of how we loved the Turkish people, and though we have sold up now, we will always remember them with affection.
